Mommy Style Monday: Resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Can you believe that it is 2018?!
Today for Mommy Style Monday we are sharing our resolutions for the year. I am not one for new year resolutions, I feel like I am constantly trying to challenge myself and I don't need to wait for the new year. Although, this year I am doing things a little differently. A few months ago I came across THIS post on Instagram (go read it!). I loved her resolution of picking a new skill to work on each month. I know there are a lot of things that I would like to learn and work on but I don't think that I am going to have the time or energy to pick a new on each month. I decided to really only focus on a few talents/skills that I want to work on this year.
The biggest thing I want to work on this year is to practice playing the guitar/piano more often. Growing up my parents made us all take piano lessons. I am the youngest of 5 and when it came to me learning the piano things were a little different. My dad was my teacher for a few years, then my sister was my teacher, then my mom was my teacher. You guys, I HATED IT! The years that my mom taught me I seriously only had 2 lessons a year! Haha. When we moved to Utah there was a neighbor just down the street from my parents that gave me piano lessons. But really, I hated it. And now I totally regret not taking it more seriously. I can read music, I can play, but I am not as talented as my older brothers and sister. So I really want to work on that.
Then, right before I went to college there was a guitar hanging out at my parents house and I picked it up and got on youtube. My mom taught me some basic chords and by the end of the night I was playing "Butterfly Fly Away" by Miley Cyrus ha. I remember my mom telling me that I had picked up playing the guitar really fast. That Christmas my parents bought me a guitar and told me to sign up for a guitar class at school. Well, the guitar class is really hard to get in to (as a freshman/sophomore you don't get to register as early as others and it was always full by the time I could register). Then I had so many credits to take my last two years of college and I couldn't fit it into my schedule. So that is another skill/talent that I want to work on.
Also, I don't know if this is necessarily a "skill" but I also want to learn how to BUDGET!

If you read that huge long post, you are amazing. If not, here is a wrap up of my goals for 2018, and because we all love the generic resolutions... I'll add in a few of those too.
-practice guitar
-practice piano
-learn to budget
-live a healthier lifestyle

Those are basically it. I am really excited to get back into my regular health and fitness routine after this baby comes so that is another thing I will be working on.

What are your new year resolutions?
Are there any talents you want to work on or any new skills you want to learn?
